Boston

Ok, once again you have to tilt your head to see the pics. Sorry. Technical support has gone to bed (technical support has since fixed the pics). I'm on a roll so decided to finish. Here are some of the highlights from our Old Town Boston Trolley Tour. They drove around the town pointing out the sights of Boston and you could get on and off at your leisure. We spent the entire day seeing all there was to see and I have to say......................
Been there, done that!
I was very disappointed in the restoration they had done. Several of the key sights such as Historic Faneuil Hall where the town meetings were held, the Old State House, site of the Boston Massacre, etc. were filled with trinket/tourist shops. Paul Revere's home was very interesting, it is the oldest wood house remaining in downtown Boston. Old North Church was fascinating also. We did the tour of Old Ironside/USS Constitution and that was good and had lunch at Cheers. Felt like we were one of the gang, but nobody knew my name!!!!

Plymouth Rock

OK I have to admit that Plymouth Rock was a real disappointment. We parked and walked along the shoreline, this is after driving through the storm cloud you'll see next (actually see previous post), to experience the "ROCK". We'll, there you have it. It is a large boulder with the date carved on it, but unfortunately, all we got to see was the structure that houses it under construction. A real "tourist trap" as we call it.

Drive to Cape Cod

On our drive to Cape Cod tuesday evening this huge storm cloud was along side of us. When we stopped you were able to notice how fast moving it was. It had to be the highlight of our trip to the Cape. I have never seen a cloud come down and touch the ground like this. After taking the picture we drove right into the cloud. It was very creepy.

OK I goofed.

Ok so the next post is really goofed up. My technical support is upstairs purchasing airline tickets for Jamie and Graig to come and visit in august so you have a pic that is sideways and two of the same one. Hey, it's Joni trying to manuever around here. This is the birth home of John Adams. The home where he and Abigail lived in is next door.

Trip to Boston

Last week Mick had meetings in Boston so Janelle and I tagged along. We left monday afternoon and drove there. Monday evening we drove into the city and also Quincy, MA. I decided there was no way I was going to be able to manuever around downtown Boston (especially since Hertz rented Mick a BOAT, as he called it, a Grand Marquis) on tuesday by myself. So Janelle and I did the tour in Quincy of John Adams and John Quincy Adams birth homes and "The Big House" We also saw the oldest presidencial library, it is the building covered in ivy. I love tours of homes and the information was excellent. It also helped that I had seen the special on John Adams. They had a trolley that took you from the small home, to the larger one. That evening we drove to Cape Cod.

Joni and Janelle go "U-Picking" for Strawberries

All the folks here in New Jersey rave about the U-Pick strawberries and how delicious they are. As a child I remember many a summer picking strawberries as a family and then making jam, freezing them, and eating tons while we picked. Of course I wanted to give Janelle this experience. As you can tell by the pics she doesn't share the excitement I remembered. The strawberry she is holding is one of the largest ones we picked. Guess they haven't experienced Washington and California strawberries here. Oh and by the way, they weren't that great and the small box next to Janelle cost $10 "u-pick"!!!!!! I did make a homemade strawberry pie. They have "u-pick" rashberries also. If we are in town we'll do that experience, but Danny's rashberries at the lakehouse will be hard to beat.

Pumpkin eating bunnies!

Sorry, I'm having my typical "electronically challenged" issues with the computer. These and the next post pics should be together. The bunnies are really cute and fun when they hop away, but I'm not very happy about the fact that they've chomped one of my pumpkin plants completely gone!!!

Come join us for dinner!!

Hi everyone. It has been 3 weeks since I've posted so there are going to be a lot of pics for one date. Several of you have asked for pics of the house and yard. Well we took a few of the yard after dinner one evening. To bad the deer weren't roaming in the backyard. I do have one of the bunnies in the front yard though. Oh talking about deer, they have started the 6 week of antibiotics for treatment of lyme disease for me. I am in hopes the aches and pains, tiredness, and sore muscles will decrease soon.

From Early Relocation to Sams Club Some Assembly Required

You saw our post on the Office decorated in Early Relocation. Well, here is the new office furniture. It came in huge boxes from Sams club with "some assembly required". Now for those of you that have assembled a "swing set", you cringe when you see "some assembly required". Well it wasn't as bad as a swing set, but it was more than the "some" printed on the box! Taking votes.....Early Relocation or Sams club decor?

By the way, the Toyota Tacoma pickup has come in handy for hauling this new and used furniture! We replaced the knobby mud terrain tires with small truck highway tires and it is surprisingly tolerable to drive. It has had weekly hauling duties for furniture, moving boxes and other stuff purchased in bulk. Joni has exchanged her kidney belt for a crutch (to help her get around in spite of her aching bones!).

Nascar Day at M&M Mars

Mick was in a meeting and couldn't get out for Janelle to meet Kyle in person, so we got a pic anyway with him! He really isn't that tall.

Thursday was Nascar Day at M&M Mars and Janelle loved it. Out of the blue she is a nascar fan. They had the M&M car there and the driver Kyle Busch and his pit crew.

She kept asking for them to lower the car and start the engine!!!

Happy Birthday Mick May 25, 2008

Today was Mick's birthday...and what a birthday it was. Five minutes before sacrament meeting he was called as 2nd counselor in the Sparta Ward Bishopric. Joni was called as ward organist, 2nd counselor in the Primary, primary pianist, and is filling in as Achievement Day leader. It is truly a 2 year mission. Notice Mick is having his cherry cream pie instead of birthday cake!
